Jose Cuervo is celebrating 250 years of tequila making by releasing their Aniversario 250 Extra Anejo Tequila. The pedigree for this ultra-aged tequila is from a blend of 5, 10, 15, and 20 year old anejo tequilas, plus blanco tequila that was found in the Cuervo cellars that had been stored in their legendary demijohns for 100 years. Before blending the blanco with the other tequilas, they aged it in oak barrels for 3 years. After the whole blend was completed, it was then rested for an extra year in sherry barrels brought from Spain.
This super premium tequila was bottled in hand blown decanters with stoppers, that are accentuated with genuine leather striping. The bottles were then carefully placed into a custom, locking, wood box. The wood box includes a key for the box, and a leather bound book describing the 250 year history of Jose Cuervo. The book includes a reproduction of the Spanish land grant for the original Cuervo agave plantation, that actually predates Mexico.
Decanter #59 was bottled at 40% ABV - 80 Proof
