To honor the legacy of Don Julio Gonzalez for the distillery's 80th anniversary, the last 100% Blue Weber agave field planted by Don Julio and his family in 2006, was harvested and distilled with great care. A Solera aging system was implemented to preserve the tequila and the exquisite pinas that created it.
The Solera aging method combines and matures tequilas of different characteristics finished in unique casks, allowing the final agave harvest to remain at the heart of this rare extra anejo tequila. This Ultima Reserva tequila has been rested in ex-bourbon oak barrels for at least three years, and finished in Madeira wine-seasoned casks.
The initial aroma of spicy toasted oak and vanilla caramel lead to the vegetal flavor of agave with hints of orange and apricot. The bittersweet finish of warm honeyed agave rounds out this delicious extra anejo tequila.
